Some of the top drivers in the state will be on-hand to give focused and personalized instruction in the fine art of autocross or "cone dodging" as some like to call it.
NEVER-EVERS - teachers will give one-on-one instruction to help never-evers learn what autocross is all about, understand car handling and control, improve reaction times, looking ahead and course negotiation.
MORE EXPERIENCED NOVICES: those with 3-6 events will be coached to take their skills to the next level. Brake pedal vs gas pedal, when to use the pavement that is there, reading apexes, reading decreasing/increasing radius sweeper, launches and finishing.
INTERMEDIATE STUDENTS: are now being accepted
Each student will:
1- recieve private course instruction in the morning
2- private instruction on a dedicated slalom course
3- and each student will work the course as well. Working not only helps to keep the event flowing but it also allows students to get an external perspective of what your car is doing from the outside.
4 - In the afternoon you will get to practice the full course and have 4 timed runs: with and without your instructor.
You do not need to be a VMSC member to participate, but you do need a valid driver's license and be able to present it at registation.
Minors, 17 and 16, will need to fill out a waiver located on this page: http://www.vmsc.org/upload-download-files/public-files/index.php and bring it with 1 parent to check in.
NOTE: both parentís signatures are required and at least one parent must show up with minor age students at registration on the day of school. That parent may, however, leave after signing in front of VMSCís witness. If this isnít possible than call Audie Chenery and have the form notarized.
